• Recommended use levels of Sodium PYRIONTM:

Sodium PYRIONTM is highly active against micro-organisms. In water based functional fluids (metal working fluids, hydraulic
fluids, water based latex paints, adhesives, glues, lubricants, in can preservation, liquid cooling, processing systems, leather, ...)
0.01 to 0.1% active ingredient is sufficient to control microbial growth. Depending on the application we recommend to use
an additional bactericide or fungicide.
Architectural paints for exterior applications can be protected against algal and mould growth with Sodium PYRIONTM,
however light stability and leachability could be critical.

• Chemical stability and compatibility Sodium PYRIONTM

Sodium PYRIONTM is stable under normal environmental conditions if stored in the original (dark colored) and closed container.
The aqueous Sodium PYRIONTM solution is stable at pH-values above 6.5. Addition of Sodium PYRIONTM does not affect the
alkalinity of most metal working fluids. At low pH values, free pyrithione will be formed.
Sodium PYRIONTM is photosensitive in aqueous solutions and discoloration can occur if exposed to direct sunlight or UV-light.
Today we have no evidence that any discoloration does influence the effectiveness.
Sodium PYRIONTM is compatible with most raw material used in technical applications. Discoloration can occur in presence of
oxidizing agents or heavy metals. Because this phenomenon also depends on the pH and other ingredients, a stability test is
highly recommended.

Product description:

Sodium pyrithione inhibits growth of fungi, yeast,
mold and bacteria. Sodium and zinc salt of pyrithione
N-oxide are widely used in cosmetics and shampoo. In
acidic media, amine N-oxides are cationic and can act
as a mild conditioner. They are used in body care
products. Pyridinethione derivatives, belong to a class
of cyclic sulfur organo products containing sulfur
atom (S), and often oxygen (O), nitrogen (N),
hydrogen (H) as well as other elements ca be find.

Application:

1. It is used in formulating anti microbial property for Aerosol, Paints, Shampoo, Sealants, Adhesive,
Textiles, Plastics and Floorings.
2. Anti-Fungal agent in Metal working fluids.
3. Used in Gypsum wallboard applications as Anti-Fungal agent.
4. Used in sealants, caulks, urethane foams, patching compounds.
5. Used as mould controller by fungicidal activity in leather application.
6. Metal working fluids, Gypsum board, Adhesives
