Creatine is found only in meat and fish.Vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike can enhance athletic performance by taking creatine.

Vegetarians have significantly lower blood plasma levels of creatine (40-50%) because half of non-vegetarians’ daily intake of creatine comes from meat and fish products. In one study, both vegetarians and meat-eaters were given creatine monohydrate plus glucose for six days. Their improvement in performance was compared to a control group of meat-eaters, who were given just glucose per day. The athletes had to ride a bicycle for 20 seconds as fast as they could in three heats, with a four-minute recovery phase between heats.

Both the meat-eaters and the vegetarians performed significantly better with this short-term creatine supplementation.
